With a unique blend of clear ocean water, wide beaches, year-round perfect weather and all the amenities of a metropolitan urban area, Honolulu is one of the most visited cities in Hawaii. The beach resorts of Honolulu's most commercialized neighborhood, Waikiki, are where tourists spend most of their time relaxing in the sun, riding the waves and strolling the waterfront. In contrast with the modern beachside structures, the downtown district contains many historical buildings dating back to the time of monarchical 19th century Hawaii. Oahu island's incredible natural sights should not be missed, and a trip to the top of the Diamond Head volcano or through the Hanauma Bay Nature Preserve is well worth the while.
